Due credit to Dutchbag for map and basic idea Map edits: The yellow state below Russia and independent Vladivostok do not exist and are part of Russia Central Lore: In this timeline, the central powers was able to effectively execute the Schlieffen plan by working it in reverse. The Entente was defeated shortly afterwards by the Allied forces storming through southern France. Country Specific Russia: As Italy remained neutral, the Austrians and the Germans were able to crush the Russians with a speed the world had never seen since Napoleon. While crushed, the Tsar's army was able to regroup, and the assassination of the incompetent Tsar Nicholas and son put the maverick Duke Michael on the imperial throne. Duke Michael was able to offer sweeping concessions (namely, a complete transformation to a constitutional monarchy), enough to appease the Russians, but lawlessness prevailed in the empire and nationalism boiled over. Ukraine, Finland, the Baltic State, and many others split off. Italy: The early entry of America, alarmed at the speed at which Russia fell, encouraged Italian intervention. This proved to be an enormous mistake as brilliant leadership in Austria punched across Lombardia and held the allies at the alps while the German War Machine stormed south. Southern Italy ceded and made peace with the Germans. Austria-Hungary: In spite of colossal success, the addition of many colonies stretched Austrian administrative strength to the breaking point. More and more of the army was being sent to Former French Africa to pacify it, and the rest of the Austrian Empire saw its chance. A brilliant political move by Hungarian Statesman Ladislaus Corvinus led to the unification of Hungarian and the Slavic Balkan states into a very powerful block within Austria. Austria has been forced to turn them into separate duchies, still held by the Archduke, but with vast internal autonomy. This decline has left Germany the pre-eminent world power. I just picked the most glaring divergences, more country information on request. WIthout further ado, NS! Nation Name: (Please be reasonable. New states can have their own names, but be reasonable. Everyone else uses the common name we have now.) Land is occupied by which modern state?: (If using a new name that is not obvious) Leader name: Population: Population reaching military age annually (optional but helpful): Current military size: Again, just be reasonable Wartime military size (full mobilization): ^ Navy size (if applicable): Number of ships will suffice. Respectable air force: A simple yes or no will suffice here. Information is difficult to find on the other countries I tried to search (Sweden's is strangely easy), so just give a yes or a no. As a good rule of thumb, if you're not in Europe or North America, the answer is "no" Military capabilities: I'm taking a new turn on this one. People either list units or just numbers. Neither of those are particularly helpful. I want analysis See my below nation example for an example. Feel free to speculate about neighboring countries; if there is a discrepancy between your image of your nation and your neighbor's image, I'd rather work it out OOC than IC. History: Use good judgement as to length. As a general rule, things that happened in WW1 happened here except where their plausibility is made nil by our changes in event, but feel free to create events/interactions. If another player occupies the nation you're writing about (I'm writing about Denmark in my Sweden history, so naturally if a player takes Denmark I'll work with them), try to work out a mutually agreeable history. Also, pre-ww1 history is available on Wikipedia, but if you want to include it, by all means do. Example
Nation Name: The Kingdom of Sweden Leader Name: King Karl XVI Population: 7 million Population reaching military age annually: 51,000 (Based off Sweden's lower population but broader age pyramid) Current military size: 200,000 infantry, 14 tanks (tanks are optional but helpful) Full mobilization size (I used Sweden's WW2 mobilized army size, which was 1,000,000) Number of Ships: 22 Military Capabilities: Sweden, as the largest and most powerful state in Scandinavia, has the sufficient military might to preclude anything less than a major military operation by either of the 3 major powers with which Scandinavia shares land or naval borders (That is, Germany, Russia, and the UK). Sweden could dominate each of its Nordic Neighbors individually. History: Sweden has emerged as the shepherd of the Nordics. Smarting after Norwegian independence, Sweden nonetheless protected Norway from German invasion after it was revealed Norway provided huge aide to the Allies by increasing steel trade to Germany in exchange for a German guarantee of Norwegian independence. This deal extended to Danish protection after the war was done. Sweden's only involvement in the war was to directly intervene in securing Finnish independence.
Rules: -Chances are, if you're still reading after my atrocious OP, you're so hardcore into NRP that you don't need me to explain the rules. But just to be clear, -No Godmodding -PLEASE disagree with me. I'm not perfect. I'm a new guy at GMing. Argue with me. I like being challenged; I don't know everything and if you feel I'm missing something, shoot me a PM. Keep it out of the OOC however. -And above all, be reasonable. That's the one thing to take out of this. As a matter of fact, write "reasonable" somewhere in your history so I know you get this most salient point.
