Cara jumped at the sound of Nate's voice and spun to face him defensively. She took in his awkward smile and relaxed a little. Her body was still tensed like a cat backed into a corner, of course - it always was - but she managed a smile of her own. Be cool, she reminded herself. "I - I heard some people in class talking about how long it had been since they'd had a good party and I thought... Why not?" Something about Cara's tone was off; she could never make herself sound sincere. Her eyes darted to her desk and back to Nate nervously. "Are you thinking of coming?" She asked, meeting his gaze. Cara was, admittedly, a surprised by this prospect. When she'd come up with the idea, she didn't imagine that anybody would show. And why would they? Everybody probably thought she was a total oddball... And they were right.
