Damn, that is 100% my fault..... Maybe because your character is made of water it wouldn't effect her on the same level. We could bring in the idea of people who actually function without a soul but that seems unnecessarily complicated and hypocritical to what has been happening in the IC. Also it would be important to note that Captain Awesome is dead but you character doesn't really know that yet, In fact I can't remember if any one in the IC really learned of his death.... I suppose it could be reasonably assumed by them, since they haven't been 'graced' with his presence for quite some time.
