I was thinking that the forests would be really, really big pine forests with many plants and animals. It'd be somewhere bountiful and relatively safe the further you get in but since the humans have ruled for the last 20 or so years, a lot of the forest has been cut down to make room for farm lands and for the logging industry. I'll likely plan as we go, and I'll ask for your input as well once I can think of a few more things. 

For the werewolves I don't see them as the type to stay in one plance. They would follow the deer and elk herds through out the years so there won't really be any settlements aside from a few annual places that they'd stay for a week or two at.
