Flintlocks might be a *tad* too advanced for armor (unless we're talking about the Eastern miquelet flintlock, which saw use as early as in the middle 1500's). Why not go with early matchlocks? Then again I'd be all over a miquelet. Sexy shit. BTW, early muskets were preferred to bows because you didn't need any specialized training. And there was no need for fletching. They were about as effective as a crossbow against armor, with more punch and less pointy.
