In the world of Dyisura, the very first era of peace is under threat by powerful enchanters, who call themselves Civero's Legion, and their vast army of destructive, troll-like creatures. Dyisura is home to four dominant races:

Rotan, forest-dwelling tribespeople;[/*]
Gleyara, naturally attractive telepaths and lovers of the arts;[/*]
Nyzians, troll-like armies with no concept of civilisation;[/*]
and Humans, mostly self-explanatory.[/*]
(I'm also going to allow people to create their own races if they don't want to choose from the above list. There will be a race creation sheet in the OOC.) The races struggled to maintain their shaky peace treaty in the face of complete destruction. In a desperate attempt to stop the flood of devastation, the World Council issued a public invitation to anyone with the skills and determination to save Dyisura; they were to meet in Aygos, the central hub of activity for the World Council, for a briefing. Hundreds gathered in Aygos and were informed of the existence of Civero's Legion. Placed into groups, within which the skills were varied and balanced to give the group their best chance, they were sent out to defeat the legion.
Dyisura boasts a long and exciting history of natural disasters, wars, famine, magical discoveries, fabled heroes and the like. Until seven years ago wars were so commonplace, taking up arms was an aspect of daily life. When armies of Nyzians moved out of their settlements and independently destroyed the largest Human, Rotan and Gleyara settlements, the three races formed an unstable alliance in order to defeat the common enemy. In the face of serious competition, the Nyzians grew doubtful of their power, and so the newly formed World Council succeeded in driving the Nyzians back to their homelands. For seven years Dyisura experienced peace. It was phenomenal, but not perfect; Humans feared the telepathic abilities of Gleyara, causing relations to waver often, Gleyara themselves struggled to be civil with anyone outside their race, and the Rotan tribespeople despised those who lacked respect for the earth. Then, the Nyzians turned on the world a second time. Now with greater numbers and a unity previously unheard of among their people, they easily obliterated the opposing forces. At first there were many theories, but when the World Council sought the expertise of The Enchanter's Guild, they discovered that a small but powerful group – calling themselves Civero's Legion – were likely to be behind the devastation. Civero's Legion, led by Sebian Civero, began as a rebellious group of strong Gleyara enchanters who believed that the most powerful among society – themselves – should dominate and rule. The Gleyara High Council admitted to keeping the existence of Civero's Legion a secret, and though they insisted they were not affiliated with the legion, this further strained relations with the other races. The World Council issued a public invitation: anyone with the skills and determination to put an end to the devastation should meet in Aygos, the central hub of activity for the World Council, for a briefing. Hundreds gathered in Aygos and learned about the existence of Civero's Legion. Placed into groups, within which the skills were varied and balanced to give the group their best chance, they were sent out to defeat the legion.
There are different roles you can play as. First, you have the option of being a member of one of these groups (which are comprised of all sorts of people of all races save Nyzian; warriors, assassins, enchanters, thieves, adventurers, investors, healers, bards, priests, you name it). Having just left Aygos, you are still largely unfamiliar with the other members of your group. You have your reasons for joining the cause, as they have theirs, and you may also have a theory as to where you can find Sebian Civero or how his legion is controlling the Nyzians. Maybe another member of your group has the same theory, or a different one. Whatever it is, you're going to need to work together. Group sizes range from 4-8 or more, and if there are enough characters you will be in the same group. Your second option is a member of Civero's Legion, one of his lieutenants or maybe the big guy himself. You believe you should be ruling, and being a part of the legion will get you there. But now you're faced with hundreds of teams of combatants trying to weed you out and an allied army occupying your forces. You will do everything in your power to protect the legion.. (Providing your character sheet is good enough, you can even play the big baddie. In fact, I encourage people to try for this.) Lastly, you can play as a member of the World Council, a more diplomatic role rooted in the politics of the world. This is good for side-characters and shaping the world. You can also have more than one character! For now I'm capping it at 2, but once again a good character sheet might persuade me otherwise. This High Casual roleplay will be mostly character-driven (so think up some juicy back stories) but I will be playing as important NPCs and initiating events to move the story forward when the situation calls upon it. The idea is that we each have a hand in shaping the world we're playing in. I've given us somewhere to start and an inciting incident to throw us into the story. Now we work together to expand the world and advance the story. If this garners enough interest I'll post the OOC with a lot more detail regarding story, races, magic and the like. I've written it all up, but there is lots of room for creativity and I encourage people to add to the world.
