Because, in a sense, being able to place our lynch on a person being killed already is a gift for us. We aren't risking anything. I know others have voiced that they like the risk, but I hate it. First round lynch votes always feel like a waste to me. The author of the post is never going to be foolish enough to give away the killer, so whatever vote we make is probably wrong. This way, we will get the information we want from Alpha's death without taking the additional hit of killing someone else (who most likely is not the killer).
Plus you avoid the concern that I voiced to Lady Squee in PM, that is the killer being able to see who is voting for her/him for the right reasons and arrange an...accident. Though I'm keeping my vote as is, it's purely random and I can't see someone truly having a problem with a random vote on a first RD post.
