The important thing is that any applicant should be a rookie X-Man. This effectively means "mutant" is something of a requirement. If he were simply naturally born instead of the result of lab experiments that would be fine. For a bit of a change, to get away from the similarities between him and spiderman ne could go with psychic webs or something.

On another note, finally got a chance to see the Captain today. It is quite the excellent movie. I highly advise everyone to see it. It's made me quite excited to see the next few episodes of Agents. Once again, Marvel is the master of the stinger. You must stay through the credits!
