No, you need something special to learn runes, it's a pointless thing to worry about right now anyways.

Talismans allow the wielder to lead a [b] group [/b] in prayer. Working towards getting multiple talismans would be pointless unless you wanted to pray for different things at once, which would be less efficient than just praying for them one at a time and completing each faster.

To pray with him just go near him and say you're praying with him.
