Donnie Darko is a fluke of a movie. It's not very good and it's story is just 'confusing' enough on a first watch to make people think there is dept and subtlety where there is none. I actively hate that movie and the fact that the director hasn't made anything good since only adds fuel to my belief that he got lucky.
