There's no problem with that being in period either - [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captive_bolt_pistol]they put one together in 1903 in our timeline[/url], so you don't even necessarily need to go into a high-tech character like Gateway if you don't want to.

I must admit, the Hornet's Sting sounds like an awesome name :P
