What came out from behind the bin wasn’t exactly what Jim had expected. It was a child, and this left Jim astonished. Was she by herself? How has she survived for so long? Maybe there are there others? Jim’s bushy eyebrows lowered and his O-shaped mouth broke into a kind grin. Before he could say anything, the girl questioned about the underground safe room. The man could barely get a word out; he was still so shocked to find another survivor, especially a very young one. “It’s called a safe room,” he finally said, “It’s for emergencies in case of a natural disaster or... I guess for times like this,” the man chuckled. Had he come across this place before the outbreak, he would have thought whoever had made it was a paranoid. He would have never expected that he would be thanking them. “What’s your name, young one? I do sure hope you’re not wandering alone,” Jim said in a friendly manner. He had no idea what this girl could have been through and he didn’t want to scare her off with his multiple questions.
