I'm quite the new guy around here in the arena and I would like to ask if this place is still accepting candidates? I can't quite keep up with the huge amount of OOC posts so pardon me if I didn't see any reform concerning this matter. And I think it's always appropriate to ask this even if it says OPEN at the very start of the Opening post. Aha. 

If so, is it frowned upon to take an already existing character but using them completely out of the context of their own universe (A character from an existing franchise or book)? Not that I'm too lazy to be original (I actually love creating characters), it's just that if I'm going to play in the arena, I'd like to try out a certain character.
