It allowed me to follow my dream and do what I liked, It gave me money, respect and a career in boxing that I can be proud of. If it wasn't for my health problems, which were becoming more and more serious then maybe I would have been able to continue boxing for another 5 or 6 years. But unfortunately this is the end of the road for me. You guys have no idea how much I regret doing this, but I really have to think about my health first. That severe concussion that I suffered after my last fight plus the fact that I was getting more and more tired and weak during every fight in the last 4 years really got me thinking about alot of things." - Max when asked what drove him to retire. "I decided to donate these 2 million dollars because I have always loved japanese culture and history. I admire the respect and the toughness that these people have and the fact that no matter what life hits them with they always get back up and move on like nothing happened. I think that the world has alot to learn from them." - Max after his decision to donate 2 million dollars to the japanese people after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Joe Bernard is the first MMA fighter that I decide to manage. Up to this point I sticked only to boxers. This will be a new experience for me and i'm quite excited to see how things will turn out. I watched Joe's matches and he is an amazing talent. It will be an honor for me to manage such a fighter and I'm glad that out of all of the offers he had he chose me as his manager." - Max after signing a management contract with Joe. Name: Maxwell Terry Nicknames: Max, The Pitbull Age: 50 Place of Birth: Liverpool, England Occupation: Joe Bernard's manager Personality/History: Born in 1964 in Liverpool, Maxwell or Max as everybody calls him was an avid boxing fan ever since childhood. From the age of 13 his father started taking him to a boxing coach, where Max was trained in becoming a boxer. After spending some years as an amateur he made his debut as a pro at the age of 21. After spending 10 years in the Cruiserweight category he decided to gain some extra pounds and move to Heavyweight. Unfortunately for him he didn't had the same success that he used to have as a Cruiserweight. And like that wasn't bad enough his health started dropping. Starting with the age of 34 he was getting more and more tired during fights, his strength was dropping as the fight was progressing and he was barely winning his matches. At the age of 38, after gaining his 40th victory in his professional career, Max was hospitalised after suffering a severe concussion. The doctors did their best to get Max back in shape and recommended him to stop boxing because he might not be so lucky next time. After consulting with his coach, the same one he always had ever since his father took him for the first time to a boxing gym, Max told the world in a press conference organised by his manager that his career is over and that last match in which he gained his 40th victory was also his last. Ever since retirement Max managed to overcome his health problems, although he is still not at 100 percent even to this day and he became a manager. Up until last year he sticked only to boxers, but after having a conversation and a meeting with MMA fighter Joe Bernard, who recently fired his manager because he caught him stealing money from him, Max decided that it's time for him to move forward in this managing business, especially since at the time he wasn't working with anyone. Max and Joe signed a contract and as of last year Max became Joe's new manager. So far the two got along just fine and Joe is satisfied of his new manager.
