It would have been tens of thousands of years ago. Your civilisation would not likely have formed then, but your ancestors would have been there, I believe? Living in a house next to a reddish lake would have high property value, I'm sure. If the Daemonrexa were to return to that place, they would just likely associate your civilisation with those mythological figures at first glance :).
