In a weird way you only have Mr Shankee to blame. He got a diverse bunch of people together under suspicious and tense circumstances and then just left them hanging for a while. You can't expect rainbows and happiness to come from that, especially when everyone and their moms has had said mom murdered by ruthless orcs or something.
