Once the clip ran out, he dropped the shotgun and pulled out the sniper rifle and started firing, before he pulled out a pipe bomb he'd picked up earlier and chucked it into the middle of the horde before dashing into a room and pulling Genevieve in with him, shutting and barring the door behind them.
