Avery nodded along as Matt explained that his interests lay in the fields of science and mathematics, secretly thrilled that she knew someone who was probably good at math. She would need the help during the year for sure. As he was finishing, a man suddenly ran into him, though Matt seemed to react with amazing reflexes and agility, doing a kind of flip to land back on his feet. He seemed to treat it as no big deal, however, moving right along into conversation with the intruder before anyone could say anything. Somehow, Matt seemed to know the stranger, or at least Matt knew of him, as he referred to him with some measure of familiarity. Not to mention the fact that Matt knew his name. The other boy seemed to take the reaction and familiarity in stride, laughing boisterously before explaining that calling him Marc was suitable. Their conversation concerning the martial arts club and such did do a little to answer one question Avery had, which was how Matt had been able to do that crazy flip, as being an experienced martial artist would kind of explain it. Feeling a tad left out of the loop, Avery decided to speak up after a moment of hesitation. “Wh-What kind of martial arts do you do?” she asked, looking up at the two of them for a response. “My dad signed me up for karate lessons when I was younger, but I was never very good at it. I'm much better at gymnastics and art.”
