Good morning everyone =3 Well, it's morning for me, at least. How are you all doing?
Not even sorry
Lol, Haku just made the stairs, not the entire staircase XD --- This topic is treading on thin ice, so to speak. (see what I did there? XD) In my opinion, rather than having open-ended posts or concrete auto posts when it comes to the fighting scenes, we should have what I like to call "semi-collab". As mentioned before, open-ended posts ofttimes lead to dodging abuse, whilst automatic ones - to power abuse. In both cases there is a chance of offending one or several players, be they attackers or receivers. Collabs, on the other hand, take quite a long time to finish as I have learned after creating one with Nadi. We were lucky enough to have close time-zones, with only one hour between us. However, if one writer simply does not have the muse to create at a given moment, they would be slowing down the process and ruining the other co-creator's mood. Not to mention that different people have a different writing speed. I myself am a slow writer, whereas Pach is a fast one. When it comes to collabs, they should be done when the players know there will be enough time to write them down, without interfering with the role-play's pace. With those two statements made, I suggest we have "semi-collabs". The way I would define this term is : discussing prior to actions of great importance. In other words, let us plan ahead before posting. A simple example is how I asked Pach if I could make Vincent slip on ice. If he had said something along the lines of "he can keep his footing even on ice", I would have clarified that it was slippery, but if in turn he had specified that by some miracle Vince knew how to ice-skate without skates, I would have agreed to him not falling on the ice. Or, if he had told me he had already planned something with someone else, I wouldn't have made the scene in the first place. Concrete auto posts are good for accuracy and activity, but if you post your character attacking another and that other character's player had planned something with someone else, you would be ruining their moment. Coming clear with our intentions would be a good way to prevent displease and unhappiness ^ ^ However, this "semi-collab" discussing should only occur when our character are about to make an important move. Here are some cases where I don't suggest using this method: 1. Humans VS Creature that is obviously stronger than them I think that creatures from Nowhere should have the upper hand and deal auto damage to humans. Whether we like it or not, our pasty-skinned lovelies are newbies. They have neither experience, nor perfect skills, thus should be in a very difficult position when up against strong Nowhereians. I quote Pach:
I also tend to think villain/bosses should be granted more leeway to auto-hits too since they should generally be more powerful and be bringing the pain, if they need to force a player character to be weakened and overwhelmed to help make that eventual victory payoff all the more sweeter then hurrah.
I agree to this ^ 2. Logically impossible to dodge attacks Namely I'm talking about multi-target attacks, ones which contain several simultaneous firings. As an example I give Vincent once more and the way he smashed the table, creating a bombardment of sweets. Nowhere might defy all logic, but it would really be impossible for not a single person to be hit by anything. That is why Haku and Inadi got cake-slapped XD Despite loving our characters, we have to agree that there are some attacks we simply can not dodge or run away from. That is why we should allow anyone who is making this attack to have an auto post. 3. Minor damage Depending on your character's class, minor damage could mean many things, however, things such as punches, kicks, scratches and the like could easily be exchanged, thus auto posts should be allowed when it comes to this. In conclusion, I would not like to have direct auto posts for every single kind of fighting scene, nor would I agree to everything being open-ended. Instead, I call for cooperation and discussion, in order to avoid any unnecessary quarrels =3 In the end, I think I said the same thing as Pach ^ ^" He beat me to it.
