So your character was never assigned a team prior to the mission? The teacher is something that would be an integral part of your character's development through the Rp, not just right now. I think we are all assuming [aside Kota and Aiko] that these teams were established upon graduation from the academy. The teacher isn't just there for physical training, but emotional building of the character as well. 

Just look at the series. Genin were assigned tutors at the start of the series in their respective villages, but that tutor isn't always with them. But, should an important mission come up in the future other than this one, cuz you most likely won't just have this one single mission, you and your team could go on a mission together. 

Can't really say "I'd rather do this alone" Cuz Genin out of the academy don't solo. lol
