Of course there could be more clans but this isn't Ireland or Scotland. Its Helcore! Land of rainbows and magic. While further further back, the clans could have numbered in the many eventually they all joined up taking sides and formed six clans. Then civil war, then four. 

I think a lot of people are forgetting that this isn't earth, but this is what ever this planet is called. 

So you have to imagine some things a little different. For instance you have demon like creatures of the dominion, and the dexusjdhdh ones. Gotta let something's go
