There's always a lot of ways to look at a character but it depends how much you want to change? Do you want to remove him from the clone backstory and make him a legitimate son? If so do you want him to live in the present or come to it (a lot of superfamily love dimension and time hopping) for his own means? There's a lot of ways to approach this.

For example I had a concept for Rose Wilson where she was a member of the Teen Titans who was secretly a android created by CADMUS with financial support from Slade after the Titans killed his son. He intended to have Rose collect information on the titans unknowingly before "forcing" her to betray them with lethal intent.
