We live in a land of unimaginable beauty, where the mighty branches of the trees in our forests brush the very Heavens, where the sunsets turn our vast plains into calm seas of gold, where the lush grass beside the shimmering rivers hide all kinds of life. It is also, though, a very strange land. It is a land where pools of colored water hiss and boil, where strange mouths in the earth spit out magnificent plumes of steam and where the angry Earth thunders and shakes and splits itself into great yawning cracks. It is a land of fire and steam, but also a land of life. Strange things have been happening in this land, however. The pack has been having a harder time procuring food from the great herds of elk and bison that roam; it’s as if they’ve been leaving. Every day the hunters have to travel farther to find the prey. And three nights ago, when the waning crescent was at its highest, my mate woke me and warned me of a dreadful dream he’d had. ”The spirits of the Other had me in their icy grasps, and they only let go when I woke up! The lands were empty but the Gods of the Under told me, they told me! Their anger hissed through the Earth and they made me watch, oh yes, they made me watch the ground explode. The ash of great fires fell from the sky like snow, blanketed the ground like snow, it caught in my throat and choked me. When the red fires of Death were past, there was nothing but winter, winter for our whole lives, and our children and grandchildren’s lives, winter forever! The Earth will swallow us. There is no escape! There is no--goodbye. Goodbye, my pack! Goodbye, my land! I will see you all in the depths of the fiery Earth where there is nothing to eat but the molten blood of the Gods of the Under!” After the speech, during which he didn’t take a single breath, and drooled like a dog and trembled like the leaves of the aspens in the autumn, while I was too stunned to respond to his warning, he ran like all of the Under was after him. And I suppose he thought it was. Notes: There is no magic in this RP (at this current time, anyway). The roles are listed by importance, top to bottom. Everyone would care about pups, however, unless your character is cold hearted. The setting is a place that is similar to the Yellowstone supervolcano, but not the same. If you have questions, we’ll be happy to answer them! The pack will start to flee once this starts, so they don't have one fixed living space.
