Kyo sat on the floor and gawked at the infinitesimal distance that Balthazar's foot had been moved. How was it possible? He had predicted that, once he and Dark accomplished the Sisyphean task together, he would be absolutely elated. This did not turn out to be the case. His disappointment had reached such a towering magnitude that he felt hollow and extremely nauseous. After all that effort and all that expenditure of telepathic and dark energy, that was the best the two of them could do? Either Balthazar was a god or, more likely, Kyo and Dark both had a lot of learning to do. The idea of acknowledging this made his heart fall to fathomless depths. As he was approaching his final year at the academy, he had been under the delusion that his powers were good enough to stack up to the headmaster's staff As Balthazar had proved, this was evidently not the case. He gave Dark a confused look, knowing that his friend was probably feeling just as dejected, and stared at the floor, not knowing what to say as he got back up to his feet.
