Robert was a bit more than surprised when Susan told him she wanted a divorce, though he was aware neither of them were happy with their marriage at the time. He'd thought they were just having a rough patch, and they'd get through it eventually. He soon realized that the divorce was for the best and looked forward the next chapter in his life. Robert and Susan managed to remain good friends. Although Exton lives with Susan primarily, Robert makes sure to remain in his young son's life as much as possible.

At age fifteen, Rhiannon suddenly took on the responsibilities of taking care of her siblings and looking after her father as well. Rhia's mother abandoned her family and never contacted them since. Rhiannon's father quickly became an alcoholic after the departure of his wife causing him to be absolutely useless in raising Rhiannon's three younger siblings who were all under the age of ten of the time. Getting minimal assistance from her older sister, Zara, she found it quite difficult to remain in school with at least passing grades while taking care of the little ones. She managed to graduate from secondary school, but did not go to university until her youngest sibling, Evie, was a teenager.

After finally having enough of her father's drinking and refusal to admit he has a problem, Rhia obtained full custody of her youngest two siblings who were now fourteen and seventeen. Rhiannon juggled two jobs and attending a local university. By the time Evie moved out on her own, Rhia had earned a degree in business management. 

No longer having to look after anyone else, Rhia felt like she was finally starting her life. She met David through a friend of a friend and later became his personal assistant. Rhiannon really enjoys working for David and hasn't really any complaints so far.
