This same exact thing applies to humans, honestly. You can't take someone who doesn't know a lick of English and fling them into the state of Texas and really expect them to fair well without extensive assistance from a third-party. You could say that utilizing computer programs to help communicate is one method of getting things done, but I doubt modern electronic translation software (which is rather pathetic, mind you) has information on the 2,000 or so languages used by the human race. 

Also, pretty sure dolphins have been said to have their own language. Body language could also count.
