Evarism, also known as The Church of Light, the Radiant Path, or the True Way is a general name by which to refer to the various strains of belief that exist regarding the being known as Evarast. The world of Anadara is vast and as faith spreads it changes and grows new facets and elements. The Church of Light Specifically the dominant by far faith in the kingdom of Althorra. It's primary city is the capital of that nation. The Church of Light is most prevalent in the southern regions of Anadara and it is said that this was where the faith first began as evidence suggests that the great cathedrals and temples here are the oldest of the many buildings dedicated to Evarast. The Church of Light proclaims that Evarast is the successor to the previous god of man, salvation from the darkness that had come with the demise of the first god of mankind. It proclaims this so zealously that other faiths have especially in recent years been suffering from a degree of persecution at the hands of the many faithful. The central hub of this southern church is a single great cathedral that is said to have been built upon the very place where Evarast first made his presence known to the world. The city of Tronven, one of the great cities of the south had come under siege by mysterious beings that have been associated with the Lords of Ruin, supposedly a type of demon. It was said that the cries for aid of the besieged city reached up into the heavens and that these cries awoke a shining champion who had long slumbered. This brilliant being descended from the skies amidst a storm of light and with an army of what could only be described as angels at his back. It was this shining champion who routed the demons who had besieged the city. And it is said that upon this day he granted the world his law codes, a set of crystal slabs with words that glowed like the sun shining from within them. These are stored within the cathedral itself. It is said that the great The Radiant Path The Radiant Path is most prevalent in the west of the world and that has been engaged in a struggle with the Order of The Aether for much of it's existence. The Radiant path is known for its devotees who are willing to undergo extreme hardships to avoid violating a single one of the laws of Evarast. They isolate themselves from the world in the belief that doing so removes them from temptation and avoids angering their god. While many who attempt this life of restriction ultimately fail it is the Radiant path that produces the highest concentration of Sinless to enter the Evarraelm. Due to the lack of centralization the Radiant Path has few important locations and rather is typically composed of lone or small groups of traveling holy men and women who work to spread the faith of Evarast and to speak of the salvation that his codes bring in the darkness that the world has become. While the majority of the Radiant Path followers have avoided violence there are groups who have embraced the way of war to protect themselves from such foes as the Order of The Aether. It is said that Evarast blesses those who fight to protect the faithful and many of them bear weapons that show signs of his favor, cast from crystal or encased in it.These warriors of the Radiant Path are known for their ferocity and unflinching willingness to sacrifice themselves for they believe that such a death will grant them certain entrance to their Lord's heaven. It is also said that they are protected by the angels of their lord as at times the beings have answered the calls of lone ascetics beset by impossible odds. That this happens most frequently in conflicts with groups such as the Order of The Aether is explained by their clearly false teachings as they do not recognize Evarast's lordship. The True Way The True Way is strongly rooted in the north, specifically in Agora. Here it is said that Evarast is not a god who came to replace the former god of man but rather the true god of man who was driven away temporarily by the being that so many worshiped before. Here there is another story that the other sects of Evarism do not have. The story of the return war. It is said that Agora was the sight of a battle between gods, that here Evarast and the false god of mankind waged a battle with each other that lasted for many days. Ultimately is is said that Evarast slew the false god, casting down the usurper who had so long held him at bay. This story is mostly confined to the True Way who are known for their unwillingness to accept either the Radiant path of the Church of Light as True followers of Evarast due to their refusal to accept this tale as truth.
