Okay so, I read the review on Kanitah, and the machine ADDS one more ring. It doesn't reduce it to a single ring. It adds one more ring to the two that are already there.

The backpack is in a burlap sack on his back,it can be used at any time but it's not an instant effect. And it cripples him for the time that it takes effect, leaving him totally exposed to being killed execution style. 

It works the exact same way his power works, adding 1 more ring onto the 2 force amplification rings that he already has.
