The boy with the armor had barely sat down at the bench that Carmen was sitting on when Carmen's head perked up suddenly and her eyes widened. She heard the distant sound of someone playing music on the campus. It was either extremely loud or whoever was playing it had a way to transmit the sound great distances. She knew it was an electric guitar - although she could create any sound or combination of sounds at will, she knew a great deal about man-made sounds and the instruments used to make them. She glanced at the boy, who was seemingly enveloped in his own thoughts. That seems to happen a lot around here, she mused to herself. She said "excuse me for a moment" and turned away from him, looking back towards the direction the music was coming from. Taking in the notes that were being played - starting slow and sad but gradually increasing in happiness and tempo - she put her trumpet to her lips and was about to play when the music abruptly stopped. Confused, Carmen stood up and looked around, searching for an explanation, but there was only silence. As her heart was about to sink, to her surprise the music began again - softly as before. She picked up her trumpet once again and began to play along, hoping this would encourage the musician to continue playing. She played simply and softly but focusing the soundwaves so that the musician would hear them. As she played she stood up, turned, and began walking towards her unseen duet partner as she continued to create more expansive harmonies, continuing quickly past the realm of possibility by one human, manipulating the sound waves so that they were focused directly on the guitarist - he would be able to hear his celestial accompanist crystal clear from where he was. As she increased her walking pace and the intensity of the emotions she was conveying through her instrument, the soundscapes she was creating were so expansive that an observer could actually see the sound coming out of the bell and also radiating from Carmen's body. Walking through fields, along paths, through doors, and up stairs, the music coming out of Carmen's bell the guitarist's fingers and voice meant that all of Athalia could hear the duet between a guitar and a symphony of heart-arresting harmonies and heavenly sounds. Minutes passed as the duet unfolded and Carmen walked through Athalia, trying to find the other source of music. Eventually she reached the Student Center, guided only by the soundwaves. As she strode into where the guitarist was located, the music came to a final, exuberant cadence and as she stood across from him the music faded away back to whence it came - silence. She slowly brought her trumpet away from her lips and back to her side, where it usually rested, noticing now that there was a female sitting on the ground watching the whole ordeal. She closed her eyes for a moment and, open opening them, spoke to the guitarist and said very simply: "You called?"
