[quote=Rusalka] I have yet to see The Green Inferno, but after hearing its inspiration is Cannibal Holocaust, then I definitely need to check it out. And while I am harsh on Roth for some questionable things, I will say I did enjoy the first Hostel and Cabin Fever. My view is Roth being one of the directors responsible for the apparent increase in Torture Porn movies, which some were enjoyable, but others were just too idiotic and overly-cliched. The first Paranormal Activity scared the shit out of me, so I will vouch for that, but everything else that followed was just rotting fish in the barrel. Seriously, the movie would've done best as just ONE SINGLE MOVIE instead of a series, same way I feel about the SAW franchise. Gore in a way is essential to horror. It's that part of us that makes us question the human heart, how far a person is willing to go, but that's only to some extent in movies. If gore is done right, by either portraying it realistically or shying away from it, only leaving the mind to wonder and conjure our own interpretation of the horror, then yes I agree with that totally, but.....when you're flinging organs and brain matter at the screen for the entire duration of the film *coughFinalDestinationcough* then yes....I'm going to brutalize you with a golf trophy for being stupid and unoriginal. <.
