On the way to a trial for an Olympic team, he was fatally wounded when he tried to interrupt an armed mugging in process. He was Embraced to save his life by an Assamite named Tariq, who had witnessed Reza's bravery and skill with a blade. Tariq shared his dream of bringing the Assamites into the Camarilla with his childe. After Tariq had to go into hiding because he refused to kill a (Camarilla) Tremere elder, Reza was left without his sire. His current mentor is traveling the United States on various Assamite business, and Reza is making nice with the Camarilla in the hopes of fulfilling his sire's dream. Their travels have brought them to Texarkana. Longer History: Reza was born in Tehran, Iran during the summer of 1989. His family was not well-off, but they were able to afford to live in an area with decent schools and plentiful programs to catch a young boy's interests. For instance, fencing. He took an interest in swordplay at an early age, joining a local fencing club and competing in the city. It was clear early on that he had a natural flair for fencing, and he spent every free hour he had practicing with a blade. When he was on his way to audition for an Olympic fencing team, he came across a young couple being mugged. He had his foil with him, and he intervened without thinking. While he did manage to give the couple time to get away, he ended up being injured badly by a gunshot. A stranger in black clothes came to him after the assailant fled the scene of the crime, and when Reza was moments from death, the man asked him if he wanted to live. Reza told him yes, and the black-clad man Embraced him. The man was named Tariq, and he was a warrior-caste Assamite. He brought Reza into that world--letting his family and friends think him dead--and Reza has since learned to master a scimitar instead of a mere foil. Tariq trained Reza in stealth and assassination, though the idea of killing someone never did sit well with the neonate. He could stomach it if he thought the person deserved it, and in time he came to realize that most vampires that he could be hired to kill fit that category. Humans, however, were completely off-limits. He would never assassinate a human, and he often goes out of his way to save human lives instead of end them. As well as teaching him about the practices of his clan, Tariq also spoke to Reza of his dreams for the clan. The elder vampire wished for the Assamites to make peace with the Camarilla and join their ranks, but of course the Eldest of the Assamites wouldn't hear of such a thing. Tariq didn't dare bring that up to him, but he often spoke of this desire to Reza. It didn't take long for Reza to begin to feel that way as well. Tariq fell out of favor with the clan after he refused to assassinate a Tremere elder who was influential in the Camarilla. Reza took no blame for this, but Tariq had to flee for his life. Reza, however, became known as the childe of a traitor, which has made relations with other Assamites that know of his sire somewhat strained. Depending on how much they truly care about such things. He took on a new mentor after Tariq went into hiding, and now he travels with him. This new mentor--a vizier--has been going around the United States. He seems accepting of Reza's adopted ideology from his sire, and so he tolerates Reza trying to make nice with the Camarilla in the cities they travel to.[/hider]
