The man who had attacked him dashed at Thufir from the smoke, slamming into his armored torso. Thufir was knocked back, but was able to grab his attacker and teleported up, well above the London skyline. The burst of energy that Thufir emitted when he appeared was enough to burn the hood which was covering his attacker's face, and he was shocked to see it was a woman with unnaturally blue eyes and a blonde buzzcut. “Who are you?” he demanded of the woman as she struggled, but found herself unable to escape now that Thufir had a proper grip on her arm. “We are the Children of the Light. You are to come with me.” “You do not appear to be in a position to dictate what I am to do.” “I have permission to kill you if you resist.” “This is not the time to make threats.” She struggled again, striking Thufir's arm with enough force to cause a small crack appear in the armor, but it healed almost as quickly as it appeared. She lashed out at him again, and Thufir threw her into the ground and the impact formed a crater. Thufir teleport to the bottom of the crater, again teleported to the bottom, letting off another burst of energy, which caused several burns to appear across her now exposed face. He put his foot on her chest and slowly began to push down as her eyes bulged out of her face. “Join us! You don't need to hide from...them!” she said, the last word coated in venom. “Those with power will abuse it. I can only imagine the terror you will bring upon the world.” “You defend this scum?” “I defend these lives because they are unable to do it themselves.” “Pathetic,” the pale woman said, and she spat on his foot. Thufir pushed his foot further into her chest. “Do not anger me.” That was when Thufir saw a gleam in her eye, and saw the hand on the other side of her body from him was reaching for something in one of the folds of her robe. Not giving her the chance to pull whatever trick she was attempting, Thufir pushed his foot through her chest and blood poured out of her nose and mouth as she gurgled. He teleported above the city and then across it to the very outskirts where he could be alone. These Children of the Light had sent someone so young and untested against him. They either didn't know how powerful he was, or she had been a sacrificial lamb. It was troubling to be attacked in broad daylight. He had never heard of these Children of the Light before. He wished that he had maintained more contact with his fellow ascended; maybe they would be able to provide information. He had to find out more about what these Children of the Light were.
