Uhh, Nyx was emotionally traumatized and Nessie imprinted on her subconscious when she tried to protect her. Now she sees Nessie as someone she can trust implicitly. It's a natural reaction.

And how are we supposed to have guessed by now? You've given MAYBE one clue.
