Hey, the most obvious way to make that kind of crystal-themed weapon is to make it use sharp shards in some way. But I have got to say, I like your idea so much better! I think the Shikai is borderline overpowered, but I don't know what I would change. Maybe restrict it to two or three collumns or something. To get a good grip of the power level we're looking for, check out the applications that are accepted already.

Also, if you're looking for someone who can translate Japanese a little better than Google, I'm your man. What names specifically did you have in mind?
