Kidding. On a less douchy note: just because one technology exist does not mean another does. In this particular case they do not even have a direct link. In our world and chronology we discovered gunpowder prior to steam-tech, but that does not dictate it should run the same course here. At least, I think that that is also Kad's philosophy :).
