City of the Valkyries “It appears like you are in need of a miracle. Worry not for I am Melvin, the miracle maker.” Melvin is a charming gentleman with a sparkling smile, adorned with a tailcoat, monocle and cane. To some he is an angel; a saviour who grants miracles and wishes for the mountains of desperate and pitiful souls. To others, he is a demon; a devil who plays with the weak hearts of humans and brings forth destruction and despair. “Would you like to sign a contract with me?” You are desperate. Sad. Lonely. Pitiful. Angry. Vengeful. Greedy. Whether you are hopelessly in debt, have lost a loved one or have been abandoned, Melvin can grant you any wish you desire - so long as you’re willing to pay the price. --- W E L C O M E TO |V A L K Y R I E| YOUR TRIAL BEGINS IN : 00:00:10 Valkyrie seems to be your normal, everyday city - you may even find it to be peculiarly similar to your own. ‘People’ work, learn, play and breathe in this city just like you or me; but they know they aren’t actually real. They are merely void creatures with no emotions, knowingly and obeyingly playing their roles as a ‘working father’ or an ‘innocent child.’ The entire city was built for one, and only one reason: to hold the trials that you must pass in order to grant or sustain your wish. It is the price you have to pay. No matter how hellish the mission may be, you must tread forward or risk losing everything. Just how far will you go for your deepest desires? Will you die trying? Or will you go against Melvin in the end? ---
Melvin has designed Valkyrie to house the 100 trials that the characters must complete to finally obtain their greatest wish - and their freedom from the contract. The city is just like any other city, but with a few obvious differences. Above them, centered in the middle of bright blue sky is a reflection of the ‘real world’ that the characters live in. It pretty much appears to be a upside-down floating island of the real city they live in. The city itself is also enclosed in a glass dome that appears to be floating in the sky. In addition, the humans in the world are fake, and living among them are demons that try to stop the contractees from reaching their goal. Unless the demons sense your presence, they are indistinguishable from the other ‘people’ in this world. While the humans are approachable and can be interacted with, the demons instantly morph into a grotesque appearance when they feel there are ‘foreigners’ from the real world nearby. Characters who are teleported to Valkyrie gain perfect bodies; so for example, if they have any diseases, it will temporarily be nulled in the time they are in the city. And upon returning to the real world, the injuries the characters may have gotten in Valkyrie will cease to exist. That being said, going into each of the trials, all of the contractees are wiped of most physical advantages and disadvantages, emphasizing the necessity of mental strength. As time goes on, the trials will becoming progressively harder, testing their will to continue. In the real world, characters can meet up and talk about the next trial, stress over it, make plans; whatever your characters please. Note that all of the contractees live in the same general area, but did not know of each other before the trials began. Unless they have a good explainable reason.

Everyone has their own unique tale to tell, but each of the contractees have all hit rock bottom. In this dark, most desperate moment, you were approached by Melvin, who’d offer you a miracle. In exchange for your greatest desire, you would be required to sign a contract stating that you will accept whatever price there is for this wish. Melvin doesn’t specify the exact price of the wish but merely warns you that it will be high. Immediately after the deed is done, he vanishes and a tattoo of a digital clock will appear on the inside of your right wrist. No matter what you do, the tattoo cannot be removed. This tattoo tells the time before the next trial, and it keeps up with real time - your characters can notice this but does not know what it means until it is explained during the first trial. When the time runs out and a trial is to begin, you are promptly teleported into Valkyrie. There, the clock counts down and tells you the time you have left to complete the trial. Once the time runs out yet again, you return to the real world and would continue on as if you never left, time would not continue on in the real world. (So pretty much go crazy with the backstories. Make that shit dark enough to make me feel sad and bawl like a little baby whose candy was taken by Chilled Chaos). Wishes The way your wish is granted depends of the nature of the wish. For example, if your wish is something that can be gradual, like healing cancer, the wish will be granted bit by bit upon the completion of each trial. If it is something that isn’t gradual, like reviving the dead, you must pay the full price before it can be done. A GM post at the end of every trial will explain how each of the characters move forward from there (the progression of certain wishes, what happens when someone fails to complete a trial, etc).

In the first trial, all characters will not know what is going on and will be briefed by Melvin himself. At this time, they would all be gathered in a square gazebo located in the heart of the city. Here, they are surrounded by large, floating, glass panels acting as screens detailing the specifics regarding objectives, key locations and the length of time until that specific trial ends. The trials can be almost anything. They are individual tasks for the most part, but everyone in the world at the same time has the same trial. Characters have the option to work together to complete trials, complete it themselves, or sabotage the efforts of others. There are no rules in Valkyrie - do whatever it takes to successfully complete the trials. However, you have a specified time limit to complete all the trials. Those who fail to complete it within the given time, or generally fail, will ‘die’ and be trapped in the city of Valkyrie. These trials range from finding an item and transporting it somewhere, to slaying a certain number of demons.
1) Whatever GM says is law. I reserve the right to change the rules as I see fit. 2) In case it does happen. Take the sexual stuff to pms, or fade to black. We dont need to be getting banned. 3) No god-modding or perfect characters. I want this RP to be focused on character development, and how they react to the situations as they continue with the trials. 4) Yes, you need to know the stuff in the spoilers. I know its a lot but you won’t understand what’s going on if you dont. 5) Be nice and fair to others. Disputes will not be tolerated in the OOC. Got issues take it to Pms. 6) Try to post a few times a week. We completely understand if you have work because we all have lives outside of RPG I’m sure, but please notify us beforehand. 7) Try to write at least three to four lines. I ain't expecting you to write full fledge novels. 8) YOUR CHARACTER CAN DIE. The GMs will randomly decide who will die in the IC. You will be PMed if you are chosen. However, you will still be able to RP when your character has died, but we will tell you the specifics later on. 9) You are allowed to make as many characters as you want, just make sure you can handle it. 10) And lastly, the cliche of all rules, have fun! --- Please take some time with your CS; the character development is pretty important here and I don’t want to see only two lines under ‘bio’. Name: Age: Any age goes. Gender: Appearance: Picture, description or both. I don’t really mind. Personality: This can be rather brief, however please try to remain consistent throughout. Bio: Including things such as personal history, family life, etc etc; but be sure to include their encounter with Melvin and the situation/mental state they were in when this occurred. This encounter should have happened only a few days before the start of the timeline in the IC. Specific wish: (Absolutely anything.).
