Catholic Churches in Germany were defenceless against molestation once the Nazis took power, and the Vatican was quite literally surrounded by fascists. I maintain that Hitler was not Christian, in spite of the irrelevance of his religious affiliation to his actions. When he used Christian symbols (which even itself wouldn't say [i]anything[/i] definitively) he used them alongside pagan ones, and he both publicly and privately opposed the existence of the Church and their teachings as blights against the natural order.
