I totally get that, season wise winter always wins for me, I'm not a fan of the heat.. Suppose it was lucky I was born in England :P I think if I was in Australia I'd just shut myself in a fridge and hiss at anyone who opened the door...

I think I'd prefer the spread out holidays, my summer holiday is 4 months long now I'm at uni, that's just ridiculous
