It didnt give me that feeling until the end and after realizing what happened. Parents kidnapping 'Sarah' whom cried for her real family, banging on the window to attract attention or escape... being locked behind bars. Trapped in the basement or the parents room with 'the father' ....

To eventually being killed...

Then simply having the main character listen to their fathee grab a kitchen knife and slowly come to their room... a father desperate enough to evem murder his own child if it came to it.
