I'd recommend at least 16 for any hardcore gaming computer, but go above and beyond. RAM is basically what makes any gaming computer a gaming computer, along with the processor. To put it into perspective, whenever you do anything at all, it has to pull all the information into a temporary cache, which has all the data while you're using it. The more RAM you have, the more and larger chunks of data you can pull. System speed basically revolves around RAM.
