The small body of a girl laid on a strange rock, in a strange place, in a strange new planet. Fiona could barely push herself up onto her elbows. Her arms shook as she tried to do so, but everything inside of her hurt. How did she come to be here? Where was here anyway? She looked around her, taking in the different surroundings. She was no longer in the comforts of her small room on the space craft. She was on some planet and who knew if it was the planet her father and his crew had been wanting to go to. It had all started a couple years ago when Fiona had purposely failed every class she had been forced to take. They were classes that would help her become a scientist like her mother and father. She was not a stupid person by any means; she just did not desire to follow in her parents footsteps. Her father had been furious at her and that was the night he spilled the secret plans he and his coworkers were up to. They were trying to find a way to get to another planet safely because the one they were on was slowly dying. Her father said that she needed to be a scientist if she wanted to survive. The people in charge of the project were only picking the brightest minds to venture to the new planet and those were the ones that would surely be saved. They had hoped to later bring over more people, but there was that small chance that after they arrived, they would not be able to leave again. Fiona rebelled, whether or not she would be able to go didn't matter. She was a young girl who thought her father was crazy. How would they ever be able to fly a space ship to another planet and in the time frame of two years? That is what she had thought at the time. She had been wrong, of course. It had happened like her father said it would happen and he had been right; the people in charge only allowed about 300 scientist, doctors and other people of high rank to come on the craft. There had been limited space. In the end, Fiona still managed to come; her father and mother pulled many strings, made many empty promises and passed along useless money to the right people. Though, now here she was, all alone, on a rock in an alien planet. She rubbed the back of her head, pulling back when she felt wetness there. The red of her blood was so bright that it almost frightened her. Foggy memories were starting to come back to her. There had been a lot of shouting and a fire. Some engine trouble? Fiona pulled her knees to her chest and shivered. That's right, something happened to the space craft and they went down. How had she managed to survive? Had she been thrown from the ship somehow? Where was everyone else? At least she could breathe. There was that. She sniffed. Nothing smelled too out of place. She tried to speak, but found that her throat was raw. I was screaming along with everyone else. She stood up and tested her body. It hurt, but she could move, though she did not know what good it did, because where could she go? "H-Hello?" she managed to croak out in a raspy whisper.
