Ariela~ Leave her! The woman stepped forward, adrenaline had worn off by now and she was simply running on fumes. Why do I insist on this madness!? Kill the woman and be done with it! She screamed at herself, unable to fathom why she continued to ward this woman from danger. She was still unconscious and the weight of her had slowed Ariela's pace substantially. I cannot afford this now.. Please.. just drop her... She began to near what she presumed to be the exit. The stairwell seemed quiet enough, but in her state of exhaustion it was difficult to make a good call. She tried to judge whether or not she should risk blindly running in to the room. She knew it was a horrible idea, but she had no other option, and the military could be here at any time. Despite her suspicions she twisted the knob, using her weight to pry the door open. She cringed at the thought of what lay behind as she peeked through the opening. To her relief the immediate stairwell was empty and she was able to somewhat easily ease the door shut behind her. When she reached the top of the descending stairwell her hopes were tragically dashed as the sound of boots charging through the halls below greeted her coldly. Here is my chance, use the girl to distract their attention, then... then.. Her mind froze, why couldn't she bring herself to leave this girl behind? Why did she have the pressing urge to retreat up the stairwell in hopes of hiding from the military? They were trained soldiers, she couldn't hope to fool them with such a ploy... but the chances of her other plan succeeding were just as slim. Her mind stopped working as she attempted to wrestle with herself. All the while her body was taking over, and she found herself retreating up into the highest floor.. What is happening to me...?
