IC: Alexandra was pushed backward by the kick, only a slight twist to the side kept the breath from being knocked out of her. Even so, she had to release the blade lock with Adrian and do her best to dodge. She was mostly successful, his blade only nicked her forearm. 

Alexandra tried to slash at Adrian while he was off balance from the kick.
