Personally, I can't fucking dtand Abrams, I mean, let's look at his track record for making Sci-Fi cult classics. Star Trek was boring and you could barely see any of it... Star Trek: Into Darkness had physics that broke the universe (If you can beam from one side of the galaxy to the other, then why do you need Star Ships?) Don't get me wrong, I want this to be good, I hope to almighty god in heaven that I am talking out of my ass and that 7, 8 and 9 are the best Star Wars films ever... But good god have they given me no reason to believe that. I read this and think "Ok, so, this is being made by a man who has proven that he can't faithfully remake a cult classic series, and now, all of my favourite characters from the Expanded Universe have been confirmed to have never existed..." Oh, I agree, a lot of shit in the expanded universe doesn't make sense, I fucking hated Death Troopers, Jango Fett worked with a Noghri Assassin 15 years before the Noghri were even discovered and left their planet... But, then we get to the stuff that actually was cool. Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade, Darth Krayt, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Garm Bel Iblis, the Yuuzhan Vong wars (Ok, some parts were kinda shit... but for the most part, it was a good idea.) Boba Fett being a total badass, The Solo children, Cade Skywalker... So many things that are good... and they say "Nope, all of it goes."
