I was not even thinking of using a bullet persay, but that is why they made elephant guns. Still, it has been speculated that lighter and faster rounds are most effective in creating the shock in the first place. So it probably is not near as large as you would think. 

@Vordak, And on that note I doubt a sword would cause that effect, as it's far to large and slow. (maybe shear speed could over come that obstacle but it's unlikely) .
