Vincent refrained from shuddering under the girl's gaze. Those evil eyes belonged to the girl that had been torturing demons only moments before. But he couldn't back out now. Kiara's life, and the world depended on it. 'She's just a girl. I've seen her whine and cry before. Mary is more of a child than she let's out to be.' Vincent reminded himself as he put his gun away. First thing was first. He needed her to sit down at least close enough so she could give him her full attention. So, how was he going to get her to comply? He was going to "fool" her into thinking it was really cool, or really interesting. From Vincent's interaction with children, he learned that children enjoyed him for some odd reason. He was careless and fairly lazy, and around Mary he always called her a kid even though she didn't too much care for the name. But, he didn't have the time to sit and contemplate the reason kids thought he was a good person. Vincent needed to get Mary's attention and fast. "Mary, come here for a minute please? I wanted to tell you a story. I was going to tell you earlier. But then that big bad meanie showed up and ruined the fun." Making sure there weren't any lizards around, he carefully sat down on the ground and patted the ground next to him. "It's a really cool story. I'm sure you'll like it." As he waited, he hummed a soft and calming tune that he remembered his mother sang to him. He wished he could remember the words. When (or if) Mary got closer, Vincent began to speak once again. If she didn't come closer, he still started to tell her the story. Vincent had sat down with his side facing the fight Kiara decided take place in. He did this so he could keep an eye out on her, along with steal a couple of lucky shots if he needed to, or could. "So this is a story about an adventurer. It's a... boy, but anyway. This adventurer had left home around the time he was a kid because it was his dream to see the world. His mother disapproved and wanted to get a real job. Heh, boring right?" Vincent continues talking about how the adventurer fought such great battles between wild westerners and bad guys. He paused, remembering that he had to add a girlish tidbit for the sake of keeping Mary interested. "One day the adventurer met a girl- a weird girl- who was also traveling. He didn't know why, but he had only asked for directions and somehow..." Vincent had slowly realized he created his life up until he met Kiara a story, although he left out a few parts to keep it inconspicuous. He was animated with his story. He stretched his arms out wide in order to show an exaggerated length of the "monster" they fought together. "And once the two travelers got out of the mess that happened-" He paused, slightly wondering what would happen after all this was over. His attention turned to make sure Kiara was still fighting before he ended the story. "When it was all over, the two adventurers said their goodbyes to each other. And even if they had gotten into nothing but trouble together, the first adventurer kind of hoped to see the other some day. They did make a good team." With a shrug, he ended the story. If it didn't put her to sleep, it was enough to calm her down. Eventually, his humming continued softly, checking to see if she was sleep or calmed enough.
