Unlikely as it main function is to teach students about their magic and usually Ren interferes some times when too much of the past is discovered. The thing about Demons, other then special ones like Khan's, they aren't souls at all but rather Evlis/Sins of them which are separated at time of death. Which the Demon might have echoing memories of their past lives, as Lucius said it's not reliable including the way they keep stuff and most don't even remember their lives before the Inferno. That's the way I understood it when he explained it. So it's unlikely Demonomancers would learn of the history and objects of the past were destroyed by the nukes and Gods. Keep in mind, the past is repeating itself again. If humans and other races discover modern tech too fast, magic fades and disappears. Look at what has happened to the Ancient magic... In the last 200 years it was as common as the others but with the rediscovery of the book, a few tech advantages and so, the magic is pushed out as a result. That's why the man in the prologue hadn't heard of the College... At that point, the magic has faded enough because people no longer depend on it. :P
That seems ridiculous. Wouldn't the fusion of magic and technology be much more likely? I can think of all sorts of ways that could happen, people using objects and whatnot to focus their magic power, and meanwhile runes can provide for the common people. Techs existence just causing magic to suffer critical existence failure is nonsense (People not knowing they can? alright. people suddenly being unable to cast because someone invented indoor plumbing somewhere? stupid). But, yeah a stubborn adherence to the old ways could cause magic to sputter and die like I imagine it happened the first time, but if mages and whatnot were willing to look into ways to synergise and move forward, they would be able to preserve their art. Vitamancy alone is vastly superior to all modern medicine, and almost all of the other magics are superior in their intended purpose to modern means. Just magic fading away seems like a waste.
