The problem is not that we could fail to bring about such a perfect world, the problem is that because of the prologue, we will. I hate more than anything being flat out told 'fuck you, you lose.' as opposed to 'in all probability you will fucking lose.' Because a tiny, tiny smidgen of hope would be appreciated. I guess my only comparison is dungeons and dragons. No matter how difficult the roll, no matter the stakes, a 20 is always a hit, always a success. Sure, 1/20 odds is godawful and I will probably lose, but that tiny little chance drives me forward, rather than making me give up because of the sheer futility. I won't mind if that doesn't work out, but just pre-determining things leaves a lot of efforts pointless. Hell, I'd at least appreciate the illusion of chance.
That's rather presumptuous, don't you think? All the intro mentioned was one person who didn't know about the college, and an old woman who did. You are too quick to assume the worse of things, Free, for someone who hopes for the best. Also, watch your tongue. It's one thing to be vulgar as a character, doing so out of character is just immature, even if you're trying to emphasis a point. There is much more power in the hands of the players that we allow you to know. For some of the same reasons why the gods fear mortals and their technology. If I, for one, find that you do not need my guidance, that you could carry the story yourself, my purpose is no longer needed. Just has I have with the Warden. But until that level of unity and cooperation is complete, I will remain among you, guide you, until you decide to break free and inherit my position. But that is a long journey from now, so you should worry about the road in front of you instead of the one over the horizon.
