But be warned, strong for her size and extremely agile from years of mixed-martial arts, she is one tough little cookie. Name: Daisy Vaughn Codename: Flicker Age: 24 Place of Birth: Atlanta, Georgia Occupation: Teacher, English and Introductory Combat Family: Alive, but relatively unimportant to character. Unaware of mutation. Relationship Status: TBD Mutant Ability: Daisy possesses superhuman reflexes and agility, both of which she has furthered through intense personal training. Her more active and apparent ability is teleportation. Daisy is able to pop (“Flicker”) from one location to another at will, the jump totally silent. There are a couple of limitations to her ability. The first is that in order to jump somewhere, she has to have been there herself first. She couldn’t, for example, teleport to the North Pole as she has never been there. Also, longer jumps can be physically draining for her, as can teleporting with people (she is capable of teleporting others as long as there is constant skin to skin contact. If that contact is broken, there is the possibility that that person could be lost forever, or end up in a random location on the planet. Luckily this has not happened yet.) Personality: Daisy is cheerful and possesses and unshakable resolve. If she sets her mind to something, she will accomplish it, no matter the lengths she has to go through to do so. Dedication has been drilled into her since her birth, and you will not find a more loyal or steadfast individual. That said, she is playful and likes to play harmless tricks on people sometimes. History: Daisy had the rather unique experience of being the only child of Alex Vaughn, a top-tier mixed-martial artist and dojo owner, and Lucille Schafer, a relatively well-known poet. Her father had wanted a son, but due to complications during Daisy’s birth, Lucille was incapable of having any more children. Determined to make the best of the situation, Alex almost immediately started training Daisy as his protégé. Often he was known to go overboard with the intensity of his daughter’s training, but Lucille was far to wrapped up in her work to notice, so Daisy simply struggled through. Despite her size, Daisy showed great promise, her impressive speed allowing her to end matches before opponents even had time to react. She was Alex’s pride and joy, and he fully expected her to help him run the dojo when she graduated from high school. It broke his heart when instead she accepted a place at Sarah Lawrence on a writing scholarship (her mother was naturally ecstatic). College was really the first time Daisy had spent away from home. Her first day on campus was terrible. She got completely lost, missed orientation, and got sexiled by her remarkably fast moving roommate. It was then, curled up in a ball in the hallway, sniffling quietly, that Daisy realized she was different. One second she was bemoaning her fate wishing she was home, and the next she was in her room in her parents house. She couldn’t believe it, but after a thorough inspection she realized that she was in fact home, almost a thousand miles away from school. Terrified and fascinated, Daisy tried focusing on that dismal little hallway, and the next moment she was there. She was exhausted from her first two jumps, but too excited to sleep. She started researching on the internet about her experience, about what she was: a mutant. Her immediate and extremely unorthodox transfer to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters (a school, not a college, so she essentially went through high school twice) may not have made any sense to her mother, but it certainly made sense to Daisy. She took online courses in her free time to earn a college degree, and at the school worked hard both academically and at improving her powers, graduating as salutatorian of her class. Headmistress Pride offered her a position as a teacher at the Institute, and Daisy immediately accepted. While one of the younger staff members, she makes up for her lack of teaching experience with enthusiasm and steely willpower. Extra: Nothing as of yet.
Relationships: (It should be first noted that Daisy has a strict open-door policy towards all of her students and coworkers. Anyone who wishes to come talk to her is more than welcome to seek her out, at any time.) Kitty Pride- Daisy is a big fan of Kitty Pride. The woman possesses her esteem, respect and friendship. Kitty helped Daisy a lot when she was first learning to control and train her mutation, and that tutelage has left its mark. Daisy will not tolerate any unkind word against the Headmistress (though in general she is also not particularly tolerant of unkindness). Luna Marionette- Luna is one of Daisy’s students. Due to her superhuman agility, Daisy tends to personally spar with her during combat class. Daisy knows that Luna struggles with the different aspects of her personality and admires the girl’s desire to maintain a balance with her bestial nature, always offering to meditate with Luna should the girl need it. Freddie DiAngelo- What to say about Freddie? Alongside Nia, he and Daisy were thick as thieves during their school years, making up a troublesome trio that loved to dabble in mischief. Daisy initially had romantic inclinations towards Freddie, but due to her close friendship with Nia (who became intimately involved with Freddie), she never acted upon them and to this day both he and Nia remain unaware of this fact. Her more passionate feelings for Freddie have subsided, leaving in their place a rock-solid mutual friendship. Daisy would do anything for Freddie, die for him if need be, and the same goes for Nia. Duncan Spencer- Complicated. River Hunnigan- One of Daisy’s students. She knows he struggles with her courses, but senses a kindred spirit in his resolve and dedication. She is more than happy to go at a slower pace with him and give him extra assistance when needed. They do not often talk due to his reserved nature, but Daisy is fonder of River than he probably realizes. Naka Vejay- New to the institute, Daisy doesn’t know Naka very well yet, but she immediately likes her spark, spunk and toughness. Alicia “Ali” Taylor- One of Daisy’s favorite students. Not the most gifted fighter in the world, but hardworking, fun and kind spirited. She sympathizes with the struggle Ali goes through because of her power and just genuinely likes her as a person, they often talk after class. Oona Frederick- Daisy doesn’t know Oona very well, but she finds the girl completely agreeable and pleasant. Perhaps they will get to know each other better in the future. Alucard De Vinci- Daisy respects Alucard, though she does not know him very well. She also is a little wary of his power and does not really approve of the way he views human kind. Armonia Torres- Daisy loves Armonia with her entire heart. They immediately clicked when they met at Xavier’s School and nothing since has been able to tear them, and Freddie, apart. Daisy is aware of all aspects of Nia’s past, and it does not remotely affect her feelings for her friend. She would die for Nia and Freddie, and nothing is going to change that. Harley Coeman- Quiet and pretty socially isolated, Daisy doesn’t know Harley that well. Aware of his circumstances, she has slowly been trying to coax him out of his shell, and is hopeful that he might be a bit more comfortable around her this year than he was the year previous. Danny Green- Daisy likes Danny a lot. Timid at first, they have become fairly comfortable with each other over the past year. Daisy always has a willing ear for Danny when he needs one and finds him to be overall very sweet. Steve Irvine- Daisy doesn’t know Steve particularly well yet but hopes to get to know him better in the future, and perhaps mooch a ride on his chopper. Jade Green- One of Daisy’s students. Jade is fairly reserved, so Daisy does not know her quite as well, but all in all a pleasant young woman. Daisy has noticed that Jade sometimes underestimates her abilities, and tries to encourage the young mutant whenever she can. Adrien Timoshenko- One of Daisy’s students. He too is more reserved, preferring to fill the role of observer, but Daisy relates to his upbeat and positive attitude. They are kindred spirits in that regard. Rory Claudwell- Possibly the student Daisy is closest with, Daisy has formed a close mentor-mentee bond with Rory. They often talk, and Rory knows she can come to Daisy for anything, at any time of night or day. Due to Rory’s enhanced agility/reflexes, Daisy often personally partners with her for sparring (Sometimes she will put Rory and Luna together as well). Daisy has been known to take Rory and Ali, her best friend, out for coffee or ice cream as a special treat. Marlowe Faraday- Daisy has a deep-seated admiration for and fondness towards Marlowe. Despite having zero aptitude for Physics, Daisy was always sure to take his class when she was in school. She loved his cool, suave manner (still loves it), and finds it an immense pleasure to talk with the man. She is ecstatic to welcome him as a guest instructor in her combat class on occasion and considers him a friend, though she still slips up and calls him “Professor Faraday” sometimes. Elena Elwyn- One of Daisy’s students. Daisy doesn’t know Elena as well, but sympathizes with her due to her separation from her daughter. Daisy is always happy to lend an ear or hug should the young woman need it. Morena Sillicus- New at the school, Daisy doesn’t know Morena, but they will surely get to know each other better. Flavie Lefevre- Daisy likes Flavie well enough, though she doesn’t know her particularly well. She keeps trying to get the girl to consider meditation to help with her border-line neuroticism, we shall see if she has success this year.
