Matt Matt looked down. Even though the last couple of years was a sore spot, there was no point in keeping it away from Lily. It wasn't like he had done anything wrong, right? No matter how many times Matt told himself that, he couldn't believe that. If that demon hadn't destroyed Kamasyia, Matt would have done it himself. "It's a long story, but okay..."
It was that piece of paper we found in the book about the Phoenix that started it. I had gotten a letter back from Taylor, but wanted to wait for you to open it. I don't know what happened, but you never came up. I had to open it myself, because the demon that destroyed Kamasyia had arrived. Even though I keep telling myself I couldn't help the people here beat it, I still feel like I fled like a coward. I got on an airplane meant for getting students for the academy to see if I could go visit Taylor and have him help me learn to take on Phoenix form. There was a fierce storm, though, and the airplane crashed in the middle of nowhere. Neither me nor the pilot, whose name was Willie, got hurt, but we had no clue where we were. If it weren't for Willie being a water wizard, we might have not gotten out of there alive, but we did eventually. We arrived in a small town named Orme, which was located in the southern part of Tennessee, USA. Me and Willie parted ways, Willie back to the academy, and me to continue on to Taylor's home in Mississippi. When I arrived there, Taylor was overjoyed, but told me to rest up, because my travels had left me exhausted. I fell asleep at once, and that's the last I remember until a month later. It turned out that for some reason, Taylor had planted a chip in my head that let him control me somehow. I lived alone for a while, doing my best to survive on my own, earning money here and there. That went on until I heard that Kamasyia was opening back up using the name Kalmasyia. I wasn't sure I wanted to come back, but I decided that it would be better than what I was doing, so I came here.
